Transaction Banking is a global payments products and services business, servicing all of ABN AMRO's client segments in every region. Our product areas span cash management, trade services and cards, and our clients include mid-market and global companies, financial institutions, consumers and private clients. We have a broad range of products, many of which are tailored to local requirements. Our innovative technology platform enables ABN AMRO to provide services in 62 countries and handle approximately 2.4 billion payment transactions a year.

Our core payments products are used in domestic markets by commercial and consumer clients. We have substantial local transaction banking businesses in the Netherlands, Brazil and the USA. Our acquisition of Banca Antonveneta in Italy has now provided us with a second major base in Europe, including a large domestic transaction banking presence.

We are using experience gained in our home markets to build domestic scale in key growth markets such as India, Turkey and Greater China. These high growth markets offer excellent opportunities to provide payment transactions for their increasingly affluent consumers. Our knowledge of developed markets enables us to tackle some of the inefficiencies of domestic payment systems and assist both local companies and foreign subsidiaries operating in these increasingly sophisticated countries.
