Eco-Markets
Equity Syndication

The market for equity products with an environmental exposure is relatively new and tends to be centred on renewable or clean energy sources and carbon reduction.

As companies in this sector are often small, with a limited track record and high start-up costs, early stage funding is high risk and thus well suited to equity funding. Understanding which businesses are most suitable, where and when to raise funds, and with which investors, is a core area of our expertise at ABN AMRO.

We know the risk appetites and sector specialities of investors drawn to the eco-market sector, and are well-placed to bring them together with new business opportunities.

Recent funding in this area has involved a combination of traditional long-only funds, hedge funds and specialist renewable energy and Socially Responsible Investment (SRI) funds. We expect the number and size of environmentally-focused funds to grow rapidly.

For opportunities too small or too new to appeal to public markets, ABN AMRO has also brought the Low Carbon Accelerator Fund to the London Alternative Investment Market (the bank is a major investor in the fund).

ABN AMRO has established a strong position in funding for the carbon credit sector, and in the current year we aim to expand our equity funding into sectors such as biofuels, solar energy, heat exchangers and wind turbines.
